The Digital Generation: Why Your Toddler's Digital Footprint Matters

My three kids were born between 2000 and 2005. Their early years were filled with friends and family wanting to give them digital toys that talked, LeapPads, and hand-me-down Ipods. (remember those?)

And me, politely saying “No thank you. I don’t want them to think of technology as a toy.”

Their early years aren’t splashed (or stored) all over social media sites. Their first steps, boo-boo moments, and milestones are safely tucked away inside the pages of their Creative Memory scrapbooks.

Fun fact: my husband and I were part of the handheld resistance and didn’t own smart phones until just a few years ago, and those were hand me downs!

Turns out, it’s hard to run a digital company without digital tools. And that’s what tech is, a tool.

It’s hard to believe that technology has changed at the speed of wifi, but nearly 25 years later you are raising the digital generation, born into a world of screens, pings, dings, and selfies.

The desire to share your kid’s cute factor with the world is totally understandable. They grow so fast and we want everyone in our friends and family circle to be part of the experience.

But tech isn’t done evolving. It’s just gearing up for the AI revolution and protecting your child’s online identity has become yet another responsibility of becoming a parent.

Listen to episode 133 How to Protect Your Child's Identity Online. What is a Digital Footprint? below to explore this idea in detail and choose your little one’s digital footprint.
